StudioDRIFT set out to create a new regional gravel trail in the Arkansas Delta to both improve the quality of life for the local community, and serve as a destination that will help strengthen the local economy. As Assoc. Creative Director at Thrive Inc., I joined the project in late 2023, attending the Birdeye Gravel Ride, conducting a small design workshop and feedback session with riders. With this feedback and the StudioDRIFT and Thrive teams, I developed a brand identity to reflect the unique landscape of Crowley’s Ridge, create a feeling of approachability, and express the grittiness of the ride; all while keeping in mind the highway signage the visual elements would be applied to. The result is a remixable set of logos that can adapt to a variety of sign types and uses. I then developed wayfinding signage to be installed along the route where a vibrant red-orange became the dominant color to stand out against the rural landscape. Lastly, a series of maps was created for an info kiosk in downtown Jonesboro, AR, showcasing the interweaving bike trail system at the city, county, and regional levels.
